Location and Population

The twin cities of Albury and Wodonga sit on opposite banks of the River Murray. The river forms the state border between New South Wales and Victoria. Albury is in New South Wales and Wodonga in Victoria. Regional population in the Albury Wodonga Statistical District is currently 97,000, having averaged an annual growth rate of 1.3% for the last 12 years.

Albury-Wodonga is located centrally to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. This area represents access to 70% of the Australian population.

There are 170 flights per week passing through Albury Airport. The most regular services are to / from Sydney and Melbourne. The major air carriers are Qantas and Kendall.

Rail
There are 24 weekly passenger services to Melbourne, and 14 to Sydney.
Rail services include sleeper carriages and XPT.

Road
Albury-Wodonga is situated at the junction of three important road transport corridors – the Hume Highway, Murray Valley Highway and Riverina Highway.

Dining-out, Entertainment and Accommodation

There are numerous clubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes in Albury, offering a range of cuisine and entertainment options. These are all within 10 minutes drive from the Equestrian Centre.

The surrounding region has many attractions for tourists including the Rutherglen wineries, snowfields and historic towns such as Beechworth.

Albury Wodonga has some 50 hotels, motels and guesthouses for visitor accommodation.

Health

The Albury Base Hospital is located 5 minutes from the grounds, and includes a 24 hour emergency service.

In all, there are 5 major hospitals in Albury Wodonga, three public and two private, as well as an accredited day surgery. A further 6 hospitals are located in the regional area outside the Albury Wodonga. In all, the hospitals supply 714 beds.

Over 90 specialists service the area, with all specialties except Brain Surgery and Open Heart Surgery represented.
